Prince
Charles Hospital was opened in 1978. It has
434 beds, which comprise of acute beds for integrated
medicine, acute surgery, trauma and orthopaedics,
paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, special
care baby unit and maxillofacial surgery. The hospital
has a large Accident and Emergency Department and
emergency admissions ward.
It
also has 6 cardiac care beds and 7 ITU beds and
a general, orthopaedic, oral surgery outpatients
department. All the main services are based on site
including pathology and x-ray facilities along with
physiotherapy, dietetics and occupational therapy
services and as an integrated acute and community
trust provides both hospital and community with
a wide range of services.
